GMFA

I started volunteering for GMFA today by attending one of their meetings in London Bridge. It was great although due to Christmas many people were absent. We spent two hours looking at five different approaches to their upcoming HIV prevention campaign. This run of ads is targeting both HIV positive and negative men and will show different people's reasons for having safe sex. Ranging from a want to keep your partner safe to preventing the spread of the disease.

It was great for me to be involved in the more conceptual side of things and have a say about what works and what doesn't before it goes to the design phase. It is of course also great to feel part of something and to feel that I am in some way contributing to the community. Watch this space as we develop our ideas into something more tangible. HIV and AIDS has touched all of our lives in some way and this pandemic is set to only get worse. Africa is hit the hardest but there are communities of people in this country who suffer as well. I have just signed up to do some volunteer work here in London for the GMFA which was originally the Gay Men Fighting Aids charity but is now branded as GMFA or Gay Men's Health Charity as they have branched out into other areas. I will most likely be helping them on their advertising campaigns and with their pride fundraisers and the like. So look out for further news on this.
